English Department

In a constantly changing society, English Language Arts is the consistent and stabilizing force for our students.  As with all cultures, language is the tool that allows man to communicate and transmit knowledge.  Reading, writing, speaking, listening, and thinking are the tools that enhance learning in all curricular areas.  Accordingly, English Language Arts instruction should be given the highest priority and value in our school district.

An ideal English Languages Arts program integrates communication skills into the total school curriculum.  Also, ideally, we must seek to establish and maintain school environments that foster acquisition of communication skills.

It is envisioned that our English Language Arts program will provide for student creativity and self-awareness. Instructional strategies should encourage self-motivation by providing a learning environment that is sensitive to all levels of maturation and ability. All students of our community will then be provided with the opportunity to become productive and self-fulfilled members of society.
